POP lock
POP lock
Article
On the server , when the session is established , a lock is created or the pid is created for the user , if due to some reason the connection between particular client and server breaks , the pid of user is still there i.e the reason the account lock error comes as on the server the user is still logged on , i.e the reason for solving this kind of problem the poplock removing frontend is given to take care of such kind of issues.
The other reason is if for e.g the account is configured on 2 different machines , then if by chance both the machine start their send/receive process approximately same time then one of the machine will get account locked , as the account pid is already created on the server .
The account locking is due to session creation on server . and it is the default setting , there cannot be any changes done on that level
Also account cannot be used unlocked , seesion has to be created for mails to download to email client . Also 2 machines cannot simultaneously login under pop3 protocol , if the requirement is to configure the account on 2 different machines , then imap should be used as imap protocol has inbuild facility to handle requests from multiple client machines without any mail loss.
